Mañana and Bathala na Habit

These are two of the most famous Filipino traits.

Mañana is actually the reason why most Filipinos end up saying "Bahala na" or "Bathala na". Mañana habit is also known as the "Mamaya na" habit. The best translation in English would be the word "Later" or rather the phrase "I'll do it later". This trait is a sign of laziness. In my opinion this is constantly ignoring time and responsibility or lacking in time management.

"Bathala na" or "Bahala na" means leaving something up to who is almighty. This Filipino trait is the outcome of the Mañana habit. If one ignores time and responsibility it will be inevitable for it to grow bigger, especially if the given task has a due date.

Example how they are related.

In a school setting
Jordan (the good guy): Hey Erik we have a test tomorrow afternoon, are you planning to study?

Erik (the bad boy): WHAT?!?! a test already but it's just the first week. Maybe I'll study LATER.

Back at their village

Erik: Hey Jordan! Do you want to play dota?

Jordan: NO! I have to study Erik. Have you studied for our test?

Erik: hahaha OK your loss man! No I will study LATER (ooooh Mañana)

back at school

Jordan: (relaxed tone) I'm glad I studied the whole night, I feel confident about our test today.

Erik: SH**! I am not ready for our test. God will guide me in answering. (see BATHALA NA!)

I am not imposing that God will have nothing to do in our everyday life but we have to understand that God is the MAKER but still, WE are the DOER.

haha

now that I have shown you how these two intertwine I must  tease you for another one (Utang na loob and hiya). :)
